What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Occidental Jandía Playa receives mixed reviews, with many guests highlighting its beautiful beach location and friendly staff, while others point out that the hotel's standard rooms and amenities may not fully meet 4-star expectations. Upgrading to the Royal Level is frequently recommended for a superior experience, particularly regarding dining and pool areas.
"Stayed here for a week September 2025. Firstly it's not a 4 star hotel. 3 or 3+ at best. What could be 4 is if you upgrade to Royal level which costs 30€ pppd. When you look on the travel agents web sites photos of the hotel, it's pics from this part of the hotel they share. Which is a little bit devious. Also it states there are 2 restaurants to choose from, but only if you upgrade otherwise it's just one. As soon as you walk in your standard room you'll realise it is not 4. Well worn furniture and beds etc. Cracked tiles, wobbly toilet, broken hair dryer and a patio door that needed Hercules to open. And upstairs bathroom water coming into your room! The entire complex is on a steep hill so could be an issue for elderly and disabled people. It's away from the main resort of Morro Jable but only 5€ in a taxi. The beach looks to be just over the road but it is a bit of a trek. The hotel provides a shuttle bus twice a day.
Ok that's the bad stuff over with.
We had a really nice week at the Occidental Playa, the pool areas were large enough to accommodate everyone and loads of sunbeds so no need to reserve (but people did!!)
The snack bar at the bottom pool was excellent and we only tried the main restaurant for lunch once.
Talking of which the evening meals were more than enough for anyones tastes with a massive assortment of local and international cuisines. Breakfasts were the same.
The gardens were immaculate and clean a big tick 👌☑️ to the grounds people. Lovely variety of plants.
For those that are interested the beer 🍺 is Cruzcampo. If you upgrade you can get Heineken.
So would we stay here again? Yes we would now we know what to expect but if you are coming here and expecting 4* as standard you will be disappointed unless you upgrade."

"Our 3rd visit here and We always have the best times and amazing memories.
Staff are lovley and respectfully just say hello to them as they are humans too and not your slaves as politeness goes a long way. All the bar staff and funny and have a brilliant sence of humour especially Maria at the pool bar. Animation the main man himself LORENZO, such an amazing human being. The energy and people skills this guy has is unreal. The resort as a allround 4stars from us but the day time Animation is everything to us and lorenzo made our holiday perfect.

"I highly recommend this hotel. The view of the ocean was really stunning, great food and service - I didn't feel the need to leave the hotel because the activities and amenities were so great. Also a big thank you to the lady who organized a birthday's surprise for my husband, he will remember it for a very long time:). Every ask was fullfilled, really great service, very clean, everything well maintained, the common spaces were really nice. I felt like in a small botanical garden, so big thanks to the gardeners, who do the great job. Just a minor issue with late check-out that we paid extra and the cleaning service came to us earlier and it was an unpleasant experience to have a woman standing over me while I was packing my personal belongings during agreed and additional paid timelines. But other than that, everything was great. Choose this hotel if you are a foodie and want to recharge your batteries in a beautiful place:)"
