Visitors are captivated by the A Toxa Shell Chapel's unique, fairytale-like exterior completely covered in shells. Its peaceful island setting and nearby park offer a serene experience, making it a charming and memorable stop, especially during the off-season.
"Since it's off season in November and the beginning of rain seadon in Galicia, it was pretty much deserted. In season its worth visiting, if only to see the church covered in shells. The shells that are a symbol of St. James the Apostle, patron saint of Santiago. It took 10 years to accomplish this feature to preserve the church. Many shells are signed by tourists visiting the site."

"Ermida da Toxa is definitely worth a quick stop if you’re visiting La Toja. The outside is what makes it special—completely covered in seashells, it looks almost like something out of a fairytale. The inside is simple and small, nothing too flashy, but the charm really lies in its setting. There’s a lovely garden right in front where you can sit for a bit, and the sea is just steps away. La Toja itself is a peaceful and pretty island, perfect for a slow stroll or a relaxed afternoon."
