"Magnificent Iglesia. Bu the way most of the time Close. On Sundays there is a Mass by 13:00 h."

Teodoro Hurtado

"St. Francis of Assisi Church
In the city of Palencia, Spain, you can admire this beautiful church dedicated to St. Francis of Assisi. Its construction began in the 13th century in the Gothic style, with later additions from the Renaissance and Baroque periods.
It has a single nave with seven bays and a chancel with one bay and a three-sided apse. Devotional chapels open onto each side of the nave, within each bay.
The nave was renovated in the 17th century.
The main altarpiece is in the Churrigueresque style, the work of Pedro de Correas from Valladolid in 1732, with sculptures by José de la Sierra.
The exterior of the church is very austere; only the double bell gable stands out, lending elegance to the overall structure."

Antonio Calvo

"I loved it. It's €2 for admission, and it's worth the visit. So much history.
Interesting fact
The wooden tomb dates back to the 14th century. Don Tello was buried there in 1370. In 1510, the tomb was walled up, and all memory of its location was lost. It was discovered in 1978 during construction work."
