"We had a great experience at Juvé y Camps. We reserved the English guided tour and the guide Emilio was very knowledgeable and invited questions during the tour. It was quite interesting as to how the process differs from wine production. The town was larger than I expected and it was interesting to find that there about 50 cava producing cellars in Sant Sadurní. During the tour, we tasted the base wine that is produced during the first fermentation and later a taste of the cava from an immediately disgorged bottle. After the tour, we enjoyed tasting three bottles aged 3, 7 and 12 years. I could really tell the differences between the bottles. The tasting was accompanied by slices of meat, cheese, chips and little bread sticks. In addition to the cavas, Emilio brought out a new still wine that goes on market next week from another region, which was quite nice and very tasty. I thought I noticed a faint taste of olive and oak. We will be looking for this wine in our local shop in Sitges."

The Art of Cava Production at Juvé & Camps
What sets Juvé & Camps apart is their unwavering commitment to long aging periods. Unlike many producers who adhere to the minimum aging requirements, Juvé & Camps allows their cavas to mature on their lees for significantly longer durations. This extended contact with the yeast sediment imparts rich aromas, a creamy texture, and a sophisticated palate. For instance, their Reserva de la Familia spends a minimum of 36 months aging, a testament to their pursuit of excellence. This meticulous approach ensures that each bottle offers a nuanced and memorable tasting experience, showcasing the depth and character that can only be achieved through patience and tradition.
During a visit, you'll witness this dedication firsthand. Tours often include a demonstration of the disgorging process, a critical step where the yeast sediment is expelled from the bottle. This hands-on insight into the winemaking craft provides a deeper appreciation for the effort involved in creating each bottle of Juvé & Camps Cava. The winery's emphasis on quality over quantity is evident in every aspect, from vineyard management to the final corking of the bottle.
Experiencing a Juvé & Camps Tasting
Reviews consistently praise the quality of the tastings, often highlighting the chance to compare bottles aged for 3, 7, and even 12 years. This comparative tasting is a revelation, showcasing the evolution of flavor, aroma, and texture. The experience is frequently enhanced with local accompaniments, such as slices of meat, cheese, and breadsticks, which are carefully selected to complement the cavas. Some visitors even mention learning traditional culinary techniques, like making 'pan con tomate,' adding a cultural dimension to the visit.
The guides, like Emilio and Miguel, are frequently commended for their knowledge and engaging presentation style. They make the tasting accessible and enjoyable, even for those new to Cava. The warm welcome and personalized service, even when guests arrive late, are frequently mentioned, contributing to an overall delightful and memorable experience.
