Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Palacio de la Diputación for its stunning architecture and the value of its free guided tours, offering a fascinating glimpse into regional history. The surrounding grounds are also highlighted as beautiful spaces for relaxation and photography. While interior access is primarily through tours, the overall experience is highly recommended for its historical and aesthetic appeal.

"A true gem in Santander! The palace is an architectural marvel with a fascinating history—it served as the summer residence of King Alfonso XIII and Queen Victoria Eugenie. The grounds are stunning, perfect for a peaceful walk, picnic, or just enjoying the views. There’s also a small zoo and playground, great for kids.

We walked there (about 35 minutes from the city center), but there’s also a tourist train available. Access to the gardens is free, and guided tours of the palace interior are available and absolutely worth it. Facilities are clean, and there’s a nice café on-site.

A must-visit for anyone coming to Santander—beautiful, historic, and family-friendly!”"

"I would definitely recommend visiting Palacio de la Magdalena. There are 2 options to get here. You can get the train which is part of the Hop on Hop off bus tour. It is included when you buy the ticket for €26pp. or if you were feeling active you could walk it in about 30-40 mins. Beautiful views of the coast once you get the top and of course the huge Palace which was constructed between 1909-1911."

"I enjoyed going to see it but I didn't want to visit inside the palace. I found the outside space very pleasant to walk around and the exterior of the palace is really very beautiful and for those who saw the series Grand Hotel it is really cool to go there."
