What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors note that Volcà del Garrinada is a significant volcano in the Garrotxa region, but access to its crater is restricted due to private ownership. While exterior walks are possible, many find the limited access disappointing and suggest viewing it from a distance or exploring other more accessible volcanoes in the park.
"Access tested. A walk is enough. You can opt out of the volcano route if the distance to Olot or the valley is short.
Access to the crater is private, except for the walk, you can do without it if your time is limited"
Amor Fallero
"It is a real shame that the Garrinada volcano is privately accessible and is completely surrounded by cables so you can't access the crater. If you are thinking of visiting this place, it is better to do it from a distance where you can see it better than to go into the nature reserve just to walk around.
If you are still interested in visiting it, take a look at the attached photo where I show you the path that climbs and skirts the main and oldest crater in the area, which is about 130,000 years old. This path is taken by turning to the right once you have passed the sports area. That is, you park your car in a small parking lot that you find in the area, continue on foot along a paved path and shortly after you see a path that goes up. All in all, you will do it in a short time, so it is a short route that the owners themselves have fenced off with a large log in the ground to prevent cars or SUVs from approaching the area.
In short, it is one of the largest volcanoes in the Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park but off-limits to tourists. You always have many other options nearby to visit, it will not be for lack of volcanoes in the region."

"It is located on the outskirts of Olot with no entrance to see it, the Google points are private, you have to go through the middle of the forest with no path."
