What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find Highland Dairy Farm Ambewela to be an educational and value-for-money attraction, particularly for families. The milk production tour and complimentary yogurt are highlights, though some note that management and facilities could be improved. Strict no-photography rules are in place.
"This could be a best tourist attraction place near Nuwara Eliya if this is managed well. Although they talk about hygiene and quality, need more improvements. Better to have rest area and good parking place for visitors. There are more weaknesses than positives. That makes better marketing for Highland products.
Any one visit this place, better to find opening times."

"Visited the Milco Milk Powder Manufacturing Complex in Ambewela with my kids, and it was a fantastic experience! They got to see the entire milk powder and butter production process, which was both educational and exciting. The ticket price is LKR 100, and as a bonus, each ticket comes with a free fresh yogurt, which was a nice treat. The factory is well-maintained, and the staff was friendly and informative. Highly recommend this visit for families and anyone interested in dairy production"

"We visited the Highland dairy factory in June 2025 with our family. Although we didn’t have prior permission, they allowed us in because it was a long weekend. The ticket was Rs. 100 for locals, and we got a free yoghurt worth Rs. 80 at the end.
The factory is on the way to Horton Plains from Nuwara Eliya. There’s also a shop where you can buy ice cream, yoghurt, and other Highland products. The factory makes 100% natural milk products and is owned by the government. It was a nice and educational visit!"
