The top is a highly secured zone with the national television broadcasting centre and radar system, but visitors are free to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and panoramic views over Nuwara Eliya and the surrounding hills. On clear days, the scenery is breathtaking.
There’s also a small canteen at the summit, and I highly recommend trying the hot pol roti with lunu miris and plain tea – super tasty and perfect with the cool mountain weather. It adds a cozy, local touch to the experience.

"Visiting Pidurutalagala,the highest peak in Sri Lanka, was a fantastic experience. The drive up the well-maintained road offers stunning views of the surrounding hills and tea plantations. At the summit, the panoramic view of the central province is simply breathtaking, especially on a clear day. The area is a high-security zone managed by the Sri Lankan military, which makes it feel very safe and clean.
Be prepared for a short 20-minute walk from the parking area to the summit viewpoint. There's a small canteen run by the army at the top where you can get a hot cup of tea. Remember not to stop your vehicle on the road for photos, as there are signs of wildlife, including leopards. The mountain is open to the public until 4:00 PM or 5:00 PM."
