What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Marstrand Carlsten for its breathtaking ocean views and well-preserved historical significance. The fortress offers a captivating glimpse into the past, with many finding the guided tours informative and engaging. While the exterior is freely accessible and offers great photo opportunities, the interior ticket price is seen as reasonable for the experience. Some visitors note that the wooden parts of the fort are no longer present, but this is well-explained during tours.
"Great fort with awesome views and history. You need to buy tickets to get around the fort but free to visit around and catch breathtaking ocean views. Neatly maintained and well preserved. Camp, swim and trek. An awesome experience."

"Did not purchase tickets to go inside but the exterior was cool to look at! You can hike around the castle through trails over rocks and look out to the sea! Pretty sweet!"

"Ive been absolutely in love with castles, forts and the likes since I was a small boy.
This was extremely interesting and informative!
The castle is in very good shape (of course only everything made of Rock, there are multiple floors/parts which were made of wood and sadly didnt live to see this day)
But they talk about that in the "Podcast" through the castle with 28 1-2min parts.
I loved the Story being told, its in multiple languages, including german, which tells you about the forts origin, how much blond and sweat it took to build and what its purpose.
The ticket price was 120 Krona (ca. 11 euro) for regular grownups and 100 (ca. 9) for students, which is completly justified, as you have to keep the fort in check.
Definetly Worte the Trip!
There is also a small place to eat infront of it."
