"Beautiful, simple and bright church with excellent acoustics, it is used today mainly as a concert hall for the city of Locarno. The most famous symphony orchestras and the best soloists in the world have performed here during the Ascona Music Weeks. Recently restored, this beautiful and harmonious columned basilica with three naves was consecrated in 1230 by the bishop of Como Uberto Sala. It was reconsecrated after a reconstruction in 1316 by Bishop Giacomo, suffragan of the bishop of Como. The central nave is covered by a wooden ceiling, while the side naves are covered by cross vaults. The naves stand on 5 pairs of columns. The windows of the side naves are in Baroque style. Before the main apse in the shape of a semicircle, a dome rises on pointed arches, which is slightly higher than the main nave. The basilica is part of the adjacent Franciscan monastery, which today houses the cantonal school of pedagogy.

Kürzlich restauriert, wurde diese schöne und harmonische Säulenbasilika mit drei Schiffen 1230 vom Bischof von Como Uberto Sala geweiht. It happened after a Wiederaufbau im Jahre 1316 von Bischof Giacomo wieder eingeweiht. Das Mittelschiff ist von einer Holzdecke bedeckt, während die Seitenschiffe von Kreuzgewölben bedeckt sind. Die Schiffe sind auf 5 Säulenpaaren aufgebaut. The Fenster der Seitenschiffe are in Barockstil. Vor der Apsis befindet sich eine auf Spitzbögen gestützter Kuppel. Die Basilika ist Teil des angrenzenden Franziskanerklosters, in dem sich heute die cantonale Pädagogikschule befindet."
