This time, we were lucky to see a perfect reflection of the Matterhorn in the lake—absolutely magical. We took a short but incredibly beautiful walk from Rotenboden station (one stop before Gornergrat) to Riffelsee, and continued toward Riffelberg station. At a certain point, we decided to turn back, simply because we wanted to experience Riffelsee once more.
At the entrance to the lake, there’s a lovely alpine botanical section with high-altitude flowers—small but charming. Throughout the walk, we were constantly surrounded by stunning and diverse vistas: the ever-present Matterhorn, nearby glaciers, and distant mountain slopes with a slightly arid appearance. What a view!"
