What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Reviews for the Sunnegga Funicular are mixed, with many praising its convenient location and stunning Matterhorn views, especially for families. However, some visitors have reported negative experiences with ski equipment rental and issues with ticket purchasing via the SBB app. Maintenance closures can also impact access during shoulder seasons.
"The ski equipment here is absolutely terrible. The staff were careless and unprofessional — one guy in a beanie was particularly rude and impatient. His attitude really doesn’t reflect the standard you’d expect from Swiss hospitality, and it’s a shame because that kind of service hurts the experience for everyone. Other than the decent location, everything else was disappointing. I wouldn’t recommend renting gear here — it could easily ruin your vacation mood."

"So you know and beware if your coming in April 2025, It will upen till may 25th for maintenance work, according to someone who was here when I came.
Everything was closed even the restrooms."
Camelia Ramos
"There is no sign from the main station to come to this station. I bought a ticket through SBB app and I had to run to catch the train there, but it was in vain because the SBB wasn’t suitable for that funicular, I had to walk back the whole tunnel to buy a ticket at the desk. The funicular is inside of a tunnel and doesn’t offer any view to the mountains or the town of Zermatt."
