While some find the interiors modest, the overall atmosphere is considered serene and spiritually rich. The adjacent mountaineer's cemetery adds a layer of historical poignancy.
"St. Mauritius is the main Parish Church in downtown Zermatt. It's around 100 years old.
We found the Church exterior more appealing than interiors, specially with great Matterhorn views. At the Church backside is a small cemetery with buried mountaineers who died during Matterhorn conquest.
Interiors are pretty modest with the Noah's Ark painting on the ceiling. We were lucky being there when a local school class had their lecture by the altar which was a very memorable experience"
