What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the spectacular, panoramic coastal views and the well-maintained, accessible trail. The unique bunker cafe and the opportunity to see Keelung Islet are also highlights. Some find the hike challenging in the heat due to a lack of shade, and recommend ample sun protection and water.
"Cool round trip through tropical lush forest. Easily walkable. A bit more difficult at 36deg, but doable with a lot of water. Note - almost no shade. But the cafe at the middle in the military bunker was nice. Cash only!"

"Took the train from taipei main station to ruifang station and then bus 856/ taxi to the trail cape and it took about 1.5-2hours. But it is totally worth it! the view is amazing with clear sky and coastal view. You can also see keelung islet from the viewing point. The trail is also easy with proper steps and boardwalk. Highly recommend!!"

"We went as a family of 6 (3 adults, 1 senior and 2 kids aged 7 and 8), brought a hiking stick as well which helped immensely. Did plenty of stops at the various pavilions taking pictures and with breaks in between, including a 45 minute rest at the cafe. Spent a total of 3 hours so it can easily be done in half the time. There was also a large group of local tour group of Taiwanese retirees hiking.
Not easiest climb but the views are absolutely spectacular and worth it!
The stairs and roads are very well maintained so it's generally very safe.
Started from the port and ended at the primary school. If you start at the port, it's a steep climb up with steps immediately, gentler up a slope if you start at the primary school. Either way, it is a loop. There is parking there in the area at the start/end that you will have to walk abit to get to the start.
There is a cafe at the midway point that you have to walk down a good amount of steps and come up again to continue the trail.
Bring lots of sunscreen and sun protection!!! Ideally, a UV umbrella as well.
There are seafood restaurants at the base where you can have lunch after as well."
