What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the New Taipei City Library Main Library for its modern design, excellent facilities, and ample seating with power outlets. It's a popular spot for studying and research, offering a quiet environment with stable WiFi. Some minor drawbacks include occasional noise from napping visitors and food smells during meal times, but overall, it's considered a fantastic public library.
"A well-designed modern Public Library📖@Ban Qiao🇹🇼 I’ve visited here for a month on a daily basis. Sometimes, there’re few mid-aged or senior-aged men sat and slept on the sofa, on the 5th and 7th Floor, which made a quite interesting feeling when you study there by hearing their snoring💤 Not a big deal but can be a unique experience :)
Plus there’s always a strong foodie smell during lunch and dinner time on the ground floor, perhaps coz others brought their foods outside but to eat it inside that PUBLIC LIBRARY📖"

"A really fantastic public library with excellent facilities, modern design, and a coffee shop in the entrance, perfect for study, research, or just getting away from the noise and hum of the city.
With a light and positive design, each floor offers resources and materials that go well beyond what I imagined. These include a multimedia center with individual booths, online gaming PCs, magazines in multiple languages, newspapers, and more. As a modern design, purpose-built spaces exist for younger children, and I have read from other reviews that public lectures and speeches are given in some of the lecture/ open spaces. There is plenty of seating, each with a reading light and a socket for plugging in your devices. There is wifi available, both in the building, and in the coffee shop on the 1st floor. Naturally, modern terminals throughout the building offer digital search of the materials housed (interface in both Chinese and English iirc).
When you are done in the library, there is a supermarket nearby with a food court. If you want to stretch your legs there is also a small park with a pond (nicely repurposed from a former factory) just a minute or two away."

"2024.03
Came again for a lecture related to the prominent Lin Family and learnt a lot about the Chinese history during Qing Dynasty and how the true stories were different from the lessons taught in the schools. It was interesting and fascinating, so I bought the lecturer's book after the event as a symbol of support.
