Muang On Cave is a beautiful hidden spot about 12 minutes from my home in the Mae On area. The drive there is scenic and relaxing, and the cave itself is well worth the visit.
There’s a bit of a climb—around 180 steps up to the entrance—but once inside, you’re rewarded with impressive limestone formations, a massive reclining Buddha, and a cool, quiet atmosphere that feels both spiritual and calming.
The cave is well-lit in parts, but I recommend bringing a flashlight if you want to explore further. It’s not too touristy, which makes it feel more local and authentic. Great spot for a short morning or afternoon trip.

"Like other reviewers said, the hike is not that difficult. All the steps are in good condition and there are railings. The cave system is huge in regard to how high the ceilings are and how vast the chambers are. They did a good job with the lighting and ask for a 20B donation per person. It's a religious cave."
