What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Cheow Lan Lake is widely praised for its breathtaking natural beauty, often compared to iconic landscapes like Guilin. Visitors rave about the unique experience of staying in floating bungalows and the opportunity to immerse themselves in a pristine, ancient rainforest. The serene atmosphere and potential for wildlife sightings are major highlights, making it a truly unforgettable destination.
"Cheow Lan Lake in Khao Sok National Park is not only a natural wonder of Thailand but also one of the most unique destinations I have ever visited. Created by the Ratchaprapha Dam in the 1980s, the lake stretches over 165 square kilometers and is surrounded by dramatic limestone karsts that rise majestically from emerald-green waters. The landscape has a grandeur that is both serene and awe-inspiring, comparable to the world’s most famous natural landmarks.
What makes Cheow Lan Lake truly exceptional is its atmosphere of untouched wilderness. Despite being a man-made reservoir, the ecosystem has flourished, and the area is now home to rich biodiversity, including hornbills, gibbons, and even wild elephants. Cruising through the lake feels like entering a lost world—remote, quiet, and deeply connected to nature.
One of the highlights of staying here is the experience of the floating raft houses, where guests can wake up to mist drifting over the water and the calls of wildlife echoing through the forest. This is not simply accommodation; it is immersion in nature at its finest.
Unlike more commercialized attractions, Cheow Lan Lake has maintained its sense of authenticity and exclusivity. It is a destination that combines ecological importance with breathtaking beauty, making it ideal not only for leisure travelers but also for those seeking a deeper appreciation of Thailand’s natural heritage.
In short, Cheow Lan Lake is more than a place to visit—it is a rare opportunity to reconnect with nature in one of Southeast Asia’s most extraordinary settings."
