"I did not make use of the piers services, I was there for the stop off. There is a bridge you can use to walk over the river mouth. And there is a view point a bit of a walk to the top.
There are some shops and a restaurant close by. But the boats do get a bit noisy"

He will try to extort you for double of the agreed amount at the destination with threats of crooked cops putting you in jail and violence. Do not go with him. I live in Thailand many years so i know how to handle this situation. For new tourist it can be dangerous. He screams and makes a huge scene while threatening! AVOID! HE IS FROM KRABI!"
