Planning Your Visit

Embrace the Off-Grid Charm

Abaco is perfect for a true getaway, offering a peaceful escape with limited modern conveniences. Expect fewer chain restaurants and shopping malls, but incredible natural beauty and warm locals. It's ideal for relaxation and contemplation, not high-energy parties.

Post-Hurricane Rebuilding

While Abaco is beautiful and welcoming, remember it's still recovering from Hurricane Dorian. Infrastructure is improving, but be prepared for a more rustic experience. Your visit supports the local economy and rebuilding efforts.

The goverment needs to do better. I said it. Abaco is in desperate need of better facilities, as a Bahamian, raising a baby here is scary! What do you think?🤔 #abaco #bahamas #greenturtlecay #fyp #trending #bahamian #bahamiantiktok🇧🇸 #islandproblems

Reviews Summary

Abaco is celebrated for its breathtaking natural beauty, particularly its pristine, secluded beaches and vibrant underwater world. Visitors love the genuine warmth of the locals and the peaceful, off-the-grid atmosphere, making it perfect for a true escape. However, some find the limited modern conveniences and ongoing rebuilding efforts after the hurricane to be a drawback.

"It's a beautiful island, great for an off grid getaway. It's not your typical island vacation spot as the island has limited resources and activities to offer after the hurricane in 2019, but if you want to enjoy nature, it's just perfect. I can't wait to go back!"

"Perfect place to be if you're looking for a vacation where you really want to get away and don't mind missing the modern conveniences. Don't expect chain restaurants or a lot of selection. There aren't any shopping malls here, and you won't find outlets either. There are only two towns of any decent size (Treasure Cay and Marsh Harbour) and they are a couple dozen miles apart. BUT the people are warm and welcoming. The food is good, and the beaches are the best in the world. Plus you can REALLY have the beach all to yourself. It's easy to find warm, shallow water and that turquoise blue that looks like a postcard is REAL. You can take a ferry or rent a boat to go to some neighboring islands for variety. This is the perfect place to do some contemplation, meditation and transformation. If you're looking for big action and parties, stay in Nassau."

Jen Merkel

"Locals were the freindist of all the Bahamas! Still working on rebuilding, but the island has everything you would want and is beautiful."
