Byrsa Hill, the heart of ancient Carthage, served as the city’s fortified citadel and a symbol of its power. It was a hub of Punic culture and governance before being rebuilt by the Romans after 146 BCE. Today, its ruins reveal layers of history, from Punic homes to Roman temples and a forum, all atop a site with stunning views that reflect its strategic importance. #ByrsaHill #Carthage #AncientH...

Reviews Summary

Byrsa Hill is lauded for its stunning panoramic views of Tunis and the Mediterranean, offering a significant historical perspective as the heart of ancient Carthage. Visitors appreciate the archaeological remains and the Carthage National Museum, though some note that the museum and cathedral may be closed unexpectedly. It's a key site for understanding the region's rich past.

"It’s a breathtaking viewpoint overlooking Tunis and the entire peninsula. Inside the park, you can see panels that recreate what the ancient city of Carthage once looked like. As you walk among the actual ruins, it’s easy to imagine how prosperous and vibrant life must have been here before the Roman conquest. Even though only a small portion of the ruins remain today, I truly admire and appreciate the efforts of those who have worked to identify and preserve them in such detail."

"First things first: you buy one ticket which is valid for many spots!
At least 50% of them are quite wild and less managed.
This particular spot is one of top managed and worth the visit!"

Max Otto von Stierlitz

"Great site overlooking what was carthage and out down to modern day Tunis. This was the centre of the rebuilt carthage after Roman occupation.
The site also contains the church and the museum, both of which were closed when I was there.
Still worth the visit though"
