Reviews Summary
Visitors appreciate the Qadi Burhaneddin Tomb as a historical marker within a pleasant city park. While the tomb itself is a modern memorial, it serves as a focal point for understanding a significant figure in Anatolian history. The surrounding park offers a tranquil escape in the heart of Sivas.
"Qadi Burhaneddin's real name is Burhaneddin Ahmed. He was born in Kayseri on January 8, 1345 (3 Ramadan 745 AH). He was descended from a family of the Salur tribe of the Oghuz Turks who migrated from Khwarezm to Anatolia in the early 13th century, settling first in Kastamonu and then in Kayseri. Aziz bin Erdeşir-i Esterabadi, who wrote a biography of Qadi Burhaneddin in Persian titled "Bezm u Rezm" and a history of his reign around his time, reports that all of Qadi Burhaneddin's known ancestors were scholars and judges.
His father was Şemseddin Mehmed, who served as the judge of Kayseri. His mother was the daughter of Abdullah Çelebi, son of Celâleddin Mahmud Müstevfî, a prominent statesman of the Anatolian Seljuk State, and a relative of the Anatolian Seljuk Sultan Gıyaseddin Keyhüsrev II.
Kadı Burhaneddin's mausoleum was built in 1965 by the then-governor Ahmet Vefik Kitapçıgil in Kadıburhaneddin Park in Sivas city center."
