"Museum of Lycian Civilizations

The Museum of Lycian Civilizations is located in the Andriake Archaeological Site, the harbor of the ancient city of Myra, in the Demre district of Antalya, Turkey. The museum opened to the public in 2015 after the restoration of the Granarium (granary) built during the reign of Emperor Hadrian in 129-130 AD. The 2,307-square-meter structure consists of eight halls, each named after the major cities of the Lycian League (Myra, Patara, Xanthos, Tlos, Arykanda, Pinara, Antiphellos, and Olympos). The halls present Lycia's history, geography, epigraphy, coins, economy, social life, and religious culture through artifacts, information panels, and interactive presentations. With 1,476 artifacts, the museum reflects the rich heritage of the Lycian Civilization and also features Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman influences. The ruins of the ancient port of Andriake and a reconstruction of a Roman trading ship are also available for visit. The museum tells the story of Lycia, the "Land of Light," which established the first democratic union in history."
