What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the museum's central location, affordable entry fees, and the impressive collection of Taras Shevchenko's works and the grand architecture. Some reviewers, however, expected a more profound 'authentic spirit' and noted that some exhibits might be copies, though the overall historical and artistic value is recognized.
"Great building, just in the city center. I paid 100 uah for the entrance.
However, as for the Taras Shevchenko museum I expected much more. Must confess that the building itself is tramendous and the excibition is interesting as well as books and staff, videos and paintings, but I did not feel the authentic spirit. Btw this old building belonged to Mikhail Tereshchenko, the son of a wealthy sugar factory owner, that was born on 18th March, 1886 in Kyiv. He studied at Kiev University and Leipzig University.
On the other hand, many pluses that the museum is opened and the collection exists."
