"A hidden historical gem on the Kent coast!
Absolutely loved visiting the Abbot’s Cliff Sound Mirror. The walk along the cliff offers stunning views over the Channel, and the mirror itself is a fascinating piece of WWI-era history. It’s amazing to think this giant concrete “ear” was once used to detect incoming aircraft before radar was invented. Quiet, scenic, and full of character—perfect for history lovers, photographers, or anyone who enjoys a peaceful coastal walk. Highly recommend if you’re in the Folkestone or Dover area!"

Akhil Venugopal

"Amazing example of how inventive people were back in the days. They used this in the First World War to listen for ships and zeppelins. There's no official parking, but there are a few spaces along the footwalk. Then it's a few minutes of walking. Not sure why, but there's a lot of dog droppings along the path. When you're at the sound mirror, keep your eye on little kids because there's no fence near the edge of the cliff."
