What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find Holne Bridge a charming historical crossing with access to the beautiful River Dart and surrounding woodlands. While some note the limited direct river walks, the opportunities for wild swimming and photography are highly praised. The natural beauty and historical significance make it a worthwhile stop for those exploring the area.
"Small single track bridge with passing places for walkers when horse and carts passed in ancient times. This has been off my radar for 40 years, but having driven over it recently I was reminded of the jumps we made into the water some 8-10 metres below, on a cold, wet miserable January day in 1983. This was to clean the muddy coveralls we used for potholing as part of our basic training in the Junior Leaders Regiment, Royal Armoured Corps. I was so cold and shocked after hitting the water that I couldn't recite my name, rank and number! The river Dart is a beautiful beast, but you'll need to actually walk in the nearby woods as there are no river walks from the bridge. Disappointing really as it's lovely."
