Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Beaumaris Castle for its impressive architectural design, particularly its symmetry, and its well-preserved state despite being unfinished. The convenient location, affordable parking, and nearby amenities like fish and chip shops add to the positive experience. Some note that while dogs are allowed on the ground floor, access to the walls is restricted.

"Visited on Saturday, 06th September 2025, Beaumaris on the island of Anglesey is famous as the greatest castle never built. It was small but had many interesting features. No parking on site, and the nearest parking is on the river/straight front and costs £7 whether you stay for 5 mins or all day. Reasonable entry charge and straight away you're presented with a stunning aspect on the outside of the moat. You then enter the castle through a beautiful drawbridge. Once inside, there are options to walk the ramparts or, in a unique aspect from my experience, an inner walkway. Both walks provide unique perspectives to view the inner and outer castle walls as well as the fighting points available when the castle was operational. No great guidance once inside, but a nice little shop on exit."

"Beaumaris Castle in North Wales is honestly like walking straight into a medieval movie set—beautiful, a little spooky, and totally magical all at once. You wander through these massive stone halls and can’t help but imagine all the wild (and probably horrifying!) things that went down here centuries ago.

And after the storm? Even spookier. The towers were filled with water, and it felt like the castle was holding onto little pockets of the past. Very “Haunted Medieval Spa Day,” if you will.

But truly, the place is a masterpiece in stone. Every arch, every corridor—just wow. And then you look up and the views of Wales hit you… absolutely breathtaking. Rolling green for days. Honestly, what an extraordinary place to live—though personally I could do without the dungeon situation.

A must-see if you’re anywhere near North Wales. Go, wander, get lost, get spooked, and enjoy every minute!"

"It was an interesting place to visit. The castle that was never finished. It should have been the most amazing construction for Edward I but the financial situation did not allow it. The only part of the castle that has windows is the chapel and they are pretty amazing. They are dog friendly but they are only allowed on the ground floor of the castle. The ticket price is acceptable."
