"This lovely house was well worth a visit. When you buy your ticket you are given a timed entry to join a tour. Our guide was excellent and full of useful and fun information. The position on the hillside, means that there are lovely views, and there are woodland walks around the estate. There is also an excellent cafe, Saxon church and museum.
The house is also an Historic House, so free for members."

Well worth a visit. Book in advance for a guided tour (no self guided tours).
The tour guide was great, picking out all the notable features with background stories. Made the visit so much more engaging.

"The cafe, farm shop and little artisan shops are wonderful. The cafe and leather / vinyl works shop especially. We didn’t go in the museum as it’s quite expensive for what it is.
The ‘“lady” of the house has no business being as entitled and privileged as she is. If she doesn’t want people in certain spaces she can put up signs instead of expecting people to read her tiny mind. We made a small mistake with where we walked (nowhere near her house, but on what looked like public access grounds, after we were told we can walk the gardens by someone on the phone). She verbally abused my sister, my sister politely apologised and we left, yet she sped up to us in her car and verbally attacked us again with barking dogs in her car. We were with my niece, a 3 year old, who was immensely upset by the interaction, I’d say that will be a horrific core memory / trauma for her. What a violent person. I hope she gets the therapy she needs.
Imagine owning such a beautiful piece of history, letting people tour it for an unreasonable price, then shouting at people for walking on what looks like public right of way. Clearly we aren’t the only people to have made this mistake as we were told so by some staff. Put up signs around the grounds saying private, or stop opening it up to the public. Can’t take money from people then shout at people for walking in places where there are no signs to say it’s private. Can’t have it both ways, aggressive human."
