Brixham might well be the quirkiest town in Devon.👇 With its harbour, beach and breakwater, it's certainly one of my favourites for a short seaside walk. But there's more to this working-harbour town than meets the eye. 🐟 Brixham has a house shaped like a coffin 🐄 It's split into Cow Town and Fish Town 🐟 The church bells play a famous hymn every evening 🐄 Once a year the UK's pirates hold a fest...

Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Brixham Harbour and Breakwater for its stunning coastal scenery, particularly the scenic breakwater walk to the lighthouse. The opportunity to spot seals and find sea glass adds to the charm, while the vibrant working harbour and historical Golden Hind replica offer engaging experiences. Some find parking challenging and the town can get busy.

"We were able to park easily - but be warned the spaces are tight and you must pay. The breakwater was an easy flat walk so doable for those with mobility difficulties. I sat for a bit on the benches below the main walkway it was so peaceful and the sea was calm a very pleasant place to relax and watch the world go by."

Emma Hingley

"Enjoyed a breezy walk along this stone pier to the lighthouse at the end. A smooth and level walkway constructed on top of granite boulders, with a low wall on the seaward side, it's half a mile long, built to protect the harbour from storms. The view, across the marina and harbour towards the colourful houses of Brixham rising in terraces up the hillside and perched high on the cliffs, was absolutely stunning! This is the best place to watch the steady traffic of small private yachts, excursion boats, and fishing trawlers come and go. Did not spot any seals, but they're not an uncommon sight in the harbour. There's a small beach next to the breakwater with beach huts, deckchair hire, a café, and toilets, and also a small parking area."

Valerie Hinchliffe

"Brixham Breakwater is such a lovely spot for a walk the views out to sea are stunning and it’s so calm and peaceful. We were lucky enough to see seals while we were there, and they came really close to the edge, swimming around and popping their heads up such an incredible experience!

The water is crystal clear, so you can see right down to the rocks, and it’s a great place to just stop and take it all in. There’s plenty of space to walk along, and it feels safe and well-kept.

A must-visit if you’re in Brixham, especially if you love wildlife and being by the sea."
