"Brownsea Island is a beautiful place. The scenery is lovely, bird hides are situated well to view nesting birds and the island is largely untouched by humans.
The ferry information on the website, however, is incorrect meaning we had to wait an extra hour for the overly priced ferry to get across from Poole Harbour. There is a bus that tours the island however this is only usable for people who are unable to walk long distances and their families cannot go with them, meaning if disabled people don’t want to be separated they must walk. The island is too big to do all in one day.
Nevertheless, the parts we did manage to get done were lovely and the Red Squirrels were amazing to see but very difficult to spot, the best place to find them is behind the church on the ‘Red Squirrel Route’."

"Brownsea Island is a magical place, it feels like an adventure every time you go there. The beach along the south is an idyllic place to sit and watch the sea, and the scout camp on the western corner is famous.
If you are lucky you can spot an elusive red squirrel, but it is more likely that a peacock will be after your sandwiches! More seriously wildlife-wise, the lagoon on the north of the island has a huge variety of birds and there are some really good places to spot and photograph them, head to the Dorset Wildlife Trust visitor centre for more information!"
