What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Caledonian Railway Brechin for its engaging themed events, particularly The Polar Express and Thomas the Tank Engine days, which create magical memories for families. The heritage locomotives and scenic train journeys are also highly appreciated, offering great value for money. Some guests noted a desire for more historical information to be readily available on-site.
"I loved my visit here and, given that my other half (& dog!) competes in the annual Granite City dog agility show, this will undoubtedly be the first of many visits. The +s are that it's not too expensive to ride on the train, and if you don't travel it's free to wander around, look at the vast amount of rolling stock and have a refreshment in the great wee cafe.
On the negative side, I'm not a rail nut, but I did feel I wanted to know so much more about the history of the station, the line, the rolling stock, the wagons, their usage, history etc etc. There was pretty much zero info on any of this. The shop was useless in this regard also since it seemed to sell nothing but Thomas The Tank - as I said to the lady serving, well outside my age range. I'm sure those who run this heritage line will know all the info I'm after (and way more besides ), so please, please document some of it."

"A really fantastic time spent here, lovely stations at both ends with plenty of rolling stock and engines to look around at. The journey takes the perfect amount of time leisurely rolling up and down the line each direction taking just over an hour. A really must do in the area."

"What an amazing experience. My family have watched this film since they were young. Got tickets for the family and grandson and they all had a blast. Would recommend anyone with kids, or adult kids to go, the actors put on a great show and seem to really enjoy themselves, they also get you involved with the show. Will be going back again next year. Thank you for a memorable experience."
