"Cartmel Priory is one of those places that really takes you by surprise. From the outside, it’s beautiful and peaceful, tucked right into the heart of the village. But it’s when you step inside that you really feel the magic — the calm, the history, and the quiet beauty of it all.
The building itself is stunning, with incredible stonework, stained glass windows, and little details that remind you just how old and special this place is. You can almost feel the stories in the walls.
What I loved most is how welcoming it feels. It’s not just for history buffs or religious visitors — it’s a space that invites everyone in, whether you want to explore, sit quietly, or just soak up the atmosphere.
Cartmel Priory isn’t a loud, flashy attraction — and that’s exactly why it’s so special. If you’re anywhere near the Lake District, it’s definitely worth a visit. Peaceful, powerful, and full of character."

"An absolute delight. I found an old guide in a charity shop when planning our Lake District trip and I’m so glad we visited. It’s huge! Really impressive and guides in ten languages, lots to see and buy in the shop which is very well stocked. Wonderfully peaceful and restive as you’d expect from a working church (chaps please remove headgear when entering). We had a lovely hour here plus a walk through Cartmel which has more to offer than you might expect. A few lovely shops and pubs."
