Congratulations to MM Choral Conducting students Michael Follis (MM '24) and McKenna King (MM '25) on a phenomenal recital at St. Martin's Ev Lutheran Church! Over the course of 8 rehearsals, they diligently prepared the Concert Chorale on 9 pieces of challenging and fulfilling repertoire. We are so proud of them for this accomplishment!

Reviews Summary

St. Martin's Church Ruin is praised for its historical significance and its role as a vibrant hub for the Orthodox Christian community, offering welcoming services and a unique venue for fringe theatre. Some visitors note that the church can be quite cold and that restroom facilities could be improved.

"We went to see a play there. It's a fantastic venue for fringe theatre. perhaps could do with cleaner washing facilities."

Atul Patel

"The Orthodox Christian community in Colchester (Greeks, Cypriots, Romanians, etc) recently managed to buy St Martin's church through individual donations, and all gather together on Sundays (among other days too) to take part in the liturgy. The choir is made up of lovely volunteers from the community. They're a very welcoming bunch and on Sundays after the liturgy, they also offer drinks and snacks :)

This community also looks after the smaller Orthodox chapel of St Helen's in Colchester.

Any donations to renovate the recently bought church of St Martin's are welcome! 🙏"
