Combe Mill, Oxfordshire - original beam engine that drove the sawmill via the pulley and belt through the wall. Now drives some of the line shaft in the blacksmith and carpenter’s shops. Along with the original water wheel, the saw mill could be driven by two different means depending on water supply therefore never needing to stop. Sadly the saw mill building has since been converted to other bus...

I started by making products for Liz to paint which then grew to selling some of those items myself. Our businesses compliment each other beautifully. Combe Mill sits inside the Blenh...

"An enthusiastic team of hearty volunteers is running this incredible mill, which is open occasionally in 'full steam' so you can see all the machinery working! Really fascinating place - you can't fail to learn something from the staff, and there's every chance you'll be roped in to get involved! Wonderful, interactive day out for all ages."

"We’ve been three times during these 6 week holidays. I’d go again! This is a lovely family day out, especially if you or your child are interested in steam, clocks, wood work, forging, recent local history…. I could go on! There seems to be an army of volunteers who keep this working museum running from the lovely tea room to the working historical mill. My boy had a go at forging a poker, using the wood and metal lathes under close supervision of the volunteers. At £5 per adult you really can complain on the price either. We love this place."

Lou Ise

"Charming, place everything you could hope for in a heritage Mill and more, to see it at its best go on a steaming day the whirr clank and hiss say it all and complete the magic. The volunteers who run it all are a lovely bunch, friendly, knowledgeable, approachable, and willing to impart information. Add to this a hot dog, wonderful home made cake a cup of tea and a bench by the river and you have it all... Oh nearly forgot the amazing double forge, watching children wield a hammer to make their own poker guided by expert kindly blacksmiths... Loved it, well done everyone involved."
