"Friendly lockkeeper. Booked for 2 nights on "The island". Near the Weir. Peaceful. Nice garden for setting up picnic chairs. Dogs can stretch their legs. Short walk through park or over meadow to the pubs and town centre shops and eateries. Also available are loads of free moorings along the meadow side of the river. π₯π³β΄οΈπΆβ΅οΈπ’π"

"I visited Abingdon Lock in 2019, and met one gentleman working at the Lock. He was suspicious that I might have gotten lost and we had a wonderful chat. Very patiently he demonstrated the working of this service for boats. It was the hundredth time I felt thankful for the nice English senior people who so kindly helped foreignersβat the museums, (national trust) writersβ houses and tourist centers. Hats off to these wonderful people!"
