"Stopped here on our way home and well worth the visit. A large family house and a lot of it open to the public. Lots of information on the way round and knowledgeable guides in most rooms. Pretty gardens too"

"A wonderful historic house that has been cared for by the same family for 14 generations and telling their rather eventful life from being mixed up in court battles in Tudor times through to leading the charge of the light brigade to modern decline and restoration.. the house follows the history too from a slightly lopsided Tudor staircase through Georgian renovations and 20th century restoration and of course 21st century bits and bobs as the family still live there and are often seen helping on open days.. the room guides are great and interesting people and a pleasure to talk to..
If you want to visit don't forget to book as open days are relatively limited as this is ultimately a family home"
