Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Poundbury Hillfort for its stunning panoramic views and the fascinating glimpse into Iron Age history. It's a beloved spot for peaceful walks, especially with dogs, offering a free and accessible historical experience. Some note that while parts are accessible, it's a natural hillfort with uneven terrain.
"A short walk from the town, an easy walk around a small hill fort with amazing views. Only part of the fort is obvious at first though, and there are much longer works for the brave. Home of the Dorchester OTC (opposite the entrance to the cemetery) listening post, as well as a brick and concrete wartime listening post or firing range(?). Loved it. For a taller walk and hill, try Maiden Castle just south of the town, but this one you don't have to drive to!"
