I went to the Clyde timber ponds at the weekend. Interesting place, and a big piece of ship building history. Can't find any images online of what it looked like when they were in use. They were used for seasoning huge amounts of timber in salt water to use for ships.

"Staff are very informative and helpful. They show a five minute video 📹 at the start to give you background information.
The museum itself is not very big, and all on one level. However very interesting.
Whilst there, elderly gentleman visiting with family. Part of his memories were coming back when looking at the ships/ seeing the videos.
If never been it is worth visiting."

"Absolutely fantastic museum. Personal and local and beautifully maintained by community and volunteers. Wonderful history and images of the yard and the ships and the workers. Posh bosses toilets and the boardroom with beautiful windows. The building is deceptive, quite business like outside but totally Bette Davies staircase and light inside. The volunteers are all charming, friendly and enthusiastic. It's really accessible by public transport, close to Govan and cafes and Govan Stomes at Govan Old Parish. Also the new bridge over to Riverside Museum. Free entry, supported by donations. They suggest £3."

"This is a wonderful tribute to the shipbuilding on the Clyde and the people of Govan.

Well worth a visit. I've been a few times.
Entry is by donation."
