What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Dapdune Wharf as a 'hidden gem' offering a tranquil and fascinating experience. Highlights include the historic barges, the charming bookshop, and the peaceful riverside setting. While some note accessibility challenges due to gravel paths, the overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing a desire to return.
"First time visit for our four generation family and will definitely return. Only spent a couple of hours here today ( during school summer holiday)because we had also promised children a visit to nearby Stoke Park but next time, we will stay here for longer. Access to the car park is behind Guildford Cricket Ground - word of caution; on match days, cars and cricket spectators share the same lane but the cricket club does have traffic attendants who halt spectators and guide cars safely. On a warm summers day, it was wonderful to hear the background sounds of the cricket match. There is an overflow car park on grass with the main, smallish, car park on gravel, which was a bit of a challenge for wheelchair. However, the scenery at Dapdune Wharf is so calming and tranquil that this bit of inconvenience is worth it. Delicious cake, coffee and tea at the cafe. Our 4 year old tried pond dipping ( equipment and bug guide lent for free by National Trust). Took a wonder through the trees and open green spaces where some activities laid on for children. Saw several types of boats on the River Wey whilst picnicking on river side. Next time, plan to walk the tow path towards the lock gates and to see more of the River Wey. Gave this 4 stars because of accessibility for our wheelchair user but we acknowledge that unspoilt and historic spaces don't necessarily have solid paths etc. Hidden little gem , nonetheless. Thank you, National Trust"

"Spent a lovely afternoon and evening at Dapdune Wharf for the river festival. Nice selection of stalls and food sellers. The wharf is interesting and the boat procession was beautiful.
