What Travellers Say

Hatfield Water Park is a popular spot for families, with the aqua park and paddleboarding receiving high praise for fun and engagement. However, some concerns have been raised regarding on-site food pricing and restrictions, as well as the condition of shared bathroom facilities.

"Really good site, relaxed, big pitches, great open spaces, excellent for young kids with 2 little parks, field next door, skate park close by, decent little shop, water activities were good once you find someone to get you on them. We hired a katakanu for 6 of us and all jumped off for a swim in the lake, some went on the waterpark which was great fun!
Bathrooms were generally kept clean but would advise taking your own toilet rolls with you!
Kids had a great time!! Overall we all (5 families with kids ranging from 5-15) had a fantastic weekend here and will return."

"We attended bank holiday Monday. Completed the aqua park and family paddle boarding.
Aqua park and paddle boarding was brilliant the kids loved it and have not stopped talking about it since.
My main concern is lack of grassed areas for viewing areas or places to have picnics. There are signs all over not permitting food drink to consumed inside that haven’t been bought from there.
The summer holiday is pricey enough and after spending over £140 for a family of 6 I’ll think we’d be able to take our own picnic. Considering we have 3 kids on the spectrum that need their safe foods. And been told to go sit in the car park by management…
Overall the site facilities could be better and far more family friendly. Next time I shall definitely be travelling the 30 mins extra to Rother valley where it’s a much nicer view, a chance of a walk and lovely picnic in the sun with our family in between any activities we book.
We shall not be returning."

For Different Travelers
Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
To make the most of your family day, book your water activities in advance to avoid disappointment. While the on-site cafe is an option, be mindful of the pricing and food restrictions; packing some approved snacks or planning a picnic in a designated area (if available) might be a good strategy. Don't forget to pack essentials like toilet paper for the facilities.
🏕️ Campers
While the camping itself is well-regarded, be prepared for the shared toilet and shower blocks. Bringing your own toiletries, including toilet paper, is a wise precaution. Despite these minor points, many campers find the overall atmosphere relaxed and plan to return for future stays.
💰 Budget Travelers
If camping, this is often a more economical way to stay compared to local hotels. Focus on enjoying the core water activities, which are the main draw, and supplement with self-catered meals where possible to keep your expenses down.

Making the Most of Your Water Activities
When planning your visit, it's crucial to book your sessions in advance, especially during busy periods like summer holidays and bank holidays. This ensures you don't miss out on your preferred time slots. Remember to sign your waivers online beforehand to streamline your check-in process on the day. This practical step can save valuable time and get you straight to the fun.
While the water activities are a highlight, some reviews suggest that finding staff to assist with getting on and off the equipment can occasionally be a challenge. Patience and a friendly approach can go a long way. Overall, the water activities are a resounding success, with many families planning return visits specifically for these experiences.
Camping and Site Facilities
Regarding the amenities, the site has a decent little shop for essentials. However, a recurring point in reviews is the condition of the toilet and shower blocks. While staff attempt to keep them clean, the shared wet floors can be an issue, often due to other campers. It's advisable to bring your own toilet paper, as supplies can run out.
Despite some minor drawbacks with the facilities, the overall camping experience is often described as relaxed and enjoyable, with many families having a fantastic weekend and expressing their intent to return. The convenience of having camping alongside the water park activities makes it a popular choice for a short break.
Dining and Food Policies
There's a clear policy in place that prohibits consuming outside food and drink in many areas of the park. This is a common practice in many attractions to encourage spending at their own food outlets. For visitors with children on the spectrum who require specific safe foods, this policy can be particularly challenging, with one reviewer mentioning being directed to eat in the car park.
While the cafe provides a service, the strict food policy and pricing have been a point of contention for some, leading to comparisons with other sites that offer more flexibility for picnics. Visitors planning a trip should factor in the cost of on-site dining or be prepared to make arrangements for meals outside the main activity areas.
