Pathways for All (Almost)

Reviews Summary

Hem Heath Woods is appreciated as a peaceful, natural haven offering free access and pleasant walking trails, especially noted for its spring bluebells and birdlife. However, some visitors find the 'lake' area littered and are occasionally bothered by noise from nearby train lines and industrial estates. Path maintenance for prams is also a point of consideration.

"We came across this by accident and were really pleased. A little haven of trees, wildlife and peace. Lots of lovely birds to be heard in the trees, despite being next to a busy train line. Most paths were well maintained and easy to negotiate. Shame the ‘lake’ is just a manky muddy rubbish littered mess but I am sure the powers that be will get on it and clean it up. It’s a nice place for a walk in the business of urban living."

Emma Goodridge-Hobson

"Currently no access to the car park due to some felling work being done. I was able to get access to the path from the road although I wouldn’t say it was particularly pram friendly! Once on the path it was reasonably okay for a pram although lots of tree roots and muddy in spots. Some paths were not pram friendly. I would say this is more of a baby carry sort of walk or toddlers upwards. Otherwise nice surroundings but some paths need maintenance."
