What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise High Peak for its stunning natural beauty and abundant walking opportunities, with many highlighting the rewarding panoramic views from its peaks. The charming villages and unique geological features also receive high marks. However, some find the terrain challenging and the weather unpredictable.
"As an American visiting family in Sidmouth, I will say I could spend hours looking at the view from here. It is so peaceful and beautiful. I see now why it was one of my father's favorite places. I greatly look forward to my return."
Shannon Scott
"We were staying at Ladram holiday park and the High Peak is clearly visible. I said to my wife "I think I will walk up there this week!". "Off you go then. I'll sit outside the caravan on the veranda and see I can spot you".
So a nice dry, sunny afternoon and off I went. The path leads from Ladram Bay Holiday Park towards Sidmouth. It's quite an uneven and rutted path. There are lots of tree roots to negotiate as well. Fortunately we have had no rain for weeks, so the going was very dry, otherwise it would be quite muddy and slippery. It is pretty steep, and the final approach to the top is via a set of steps.
Once you get there it's well worth it for the views.
I tried to spot Mrs Jenks at our caravan, but my eyes aren't that good. Apparently she was able to see me. She phoned and I jumped up and down bit (luckily no one else was there). Going back down was a lot easier, but you really have to watch your footing."
Kevin Jenks
"Challenging walk to get here but worth it for the view. Even saw a peregrine falcon"
