What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Riddlesdown Common for its expansive views, tranquil woodland walks, and sense of adventure, making it a favorite for hiking and cycling. However, the boggy terrain after rain and limited parking and toilet facilities are noted drawbacks.
"Great area for walking with views over the valley. Dogs off leads welcome (pheasant and skylark area in the area so bare in mind if your dog is not bird friendly). The area can get very boggy in wet weather with the majority of the areas pathways through grassland. There is a route to Whyteleafe recreation ground (down many steps) which has a children's playground, tennis courts, basketball courts and cafe for food and drink."

"Lovely quiet common with lots of hidden walks through the woods. Great for cycling (despite a few tricky stiles to navigate with your bike!).
Head up to the Sanderstead to Whyteleafe countryside area (adjoined) for empty fields and complete peace.
My favourite place in South London."
Paul Rice
"This place is full of adventure and discovery, It is massive and when you think you have seen it all you haven't! A lovely place to have a cycle, run, walk and everything, I couldn't recommend it more! The only negatives I'd say is for paying to park and the lack of toilets! There is also a big quarry towards the end of the walk towards Whyteleafe!"
