What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Knaresborough Castle for its stunning views over the River Nidd and viaduct, and the interesting history presented in the Courthouse Museum. The well-kept grounds and serene atmosphere are also highlights. Some find the visit brief unless combined with the museum and park.
"Had a lovely day, weather was sunny, castle is well brocken up but you can get into the dungeon as they call it and up to the first floor too. The court house is interesting to look around as well.
Lots of views over the river, and handy for the town center easy walk."

"Knaresborough Castle is a fantastic spot with some of the best views in Yorkshire! Perched above the River Nidd, the ruins may be modest in size, but they’re rich in history and character. The museum inside was small but packed with interesting exhibits about the castle’s past and the local area – perfect for a quick but informative visit.
The grounds are beautifully kept, and the surrounding park is great for a walk or a picnic. The view over the viaduct and river is absolutely stunning – bring a camera! There’s also a lovely little tearoom nearby and plenty of spots to just sit and enjoy the scenery.
The only reason it’s not a full five stars is that it’s a fairly quick visit unless you’re also spending time in the museum and park. But definitely worth it if you’re in Knaresborough – especially on a sunny day."

"Fascinating to see this historic place.
And the small town around it.
Go to Mother Shiptons Pub nearby and have a drink and sit at & see Guy Fawlkes old table...it's one of UK's great old pubs."
