What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Ledbury Heritage Centre for its fascinating insights into local history and the passionate, knowledgeable volunteers who bring the past to life. The authentic atmosphere of the medieval building and the replica of the Herefordshire Hoard are significant highlights. Some accessibility challenges due to the historic nature of the building are noted.
"Nice little museum and good occasion to see a full size replica of the Herefordshire Hoard. Volunteers and staff are nice and very amicable. Unfortunately, the hoard is not accessible to wheelchair users and we had to park our pushchair at the bottom of the stairs due to the nature of the wooden frame timber building that doesn't allow any structural adjustments. It will be more accessible if the cabinet is positioned on the ground floor and the children's clothes at the top."

"Fascinating museum on the history of the wonderful ancient buildings In Ledbury. Very knowledgeable volunteers who were passionate about the history of the area. Went above and beyond to explain about some of the children who went to the old grammar school and what they became years after they left. History brought to life of the normal people who lived in the area in the 18th and 19th century. Situated up a stunning cobbled lane from the main road up to the church. A step back in time."

"One of two buildings in Ledbury that have survived from the Middle Ages (the other is Ledbury Council). In the building itself, the atmosphere of that time is well felt with a very low ceiling (~ 1.5 meters), before there was a school for priests (17th century), after which the building was almost never used. The building itself is located on the oldest street in Ledbury, if you walk upstairs, you can see a church that has been standing since the same time."
