"A big welcome to the SOUND AUTHORITY a new Band making their debut last night with the South Wales Wales Big Band Society and the first Band to perform at our sparkly new home, the gorgeous ballroom of the iconic Lysaght Institute, Newport which was built in 1928 by John Lysaght Ltd and its employees of the Orb Steelworks and provided a social hub for workers and their families. The building was extensively refurbished and reopened in 2012 transforming it into a 21st century meeting conference and events venue while preserving its fabulous historic Art Deco charm.
A great start to hopefully, a wonderful partnership with this lovely venue.
The Band were outstanding and played a superb diverse programme which pleased the very appreciative audience. Going from the 1920s melodies right through to music of the late, great Amy Winehouse and the excellent vocalists were of course, the icing on the cake.
Next week for your delectation and delight we have the marvellous Mark Porter, the delightful Donna Jones and the sensational Siglo Swinging Big Band. You won’t want to miss this, so come and down and enjoy fantastic live music."
