What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Market Rasen Racecourse offers a vibrant atmosphere for both racing and entertainment, with many praising the live music events and the overall raceday experience. However, some visitors note that seating can be limited during large events, and parking and exit can be challenging. The unpredictable weather is also a factor for some.
"Visited for the Boxing Day races, and the atmosphere reminded me why a day at the races is usually a great day out.
Went in the County Enclosure, which offers great views of the finishing post, a good selection of places to eat, a warm enclosure with live music and fewer crowds so that you can access the bar and other facilities without queues.
Eager to return for another day!"

"Very well laid out, we were in a coach-just a short walk to the entrance.
Immediately as you enter there are toilets, food stalls, drinks kiosks, photo opportunity sets and more.
We were in Tattersalls so you are undercover on stone steps, there is an area where you can picnic.
Lots of booths to accept bets and a great atmosphere.
Large screen to watch close up of the race but you can see the horses too.
Unfortunately as with all race courses unless you’re an avid race watcher, the weather determines it - and on our day the heavens literally opened !!!"

"Had a great time and Tom Jones was awesome 💯
Very pretty racecourse but very cramp when there a big event.
Nowhere to sit as too many people but not enough seats.
Having to stand up for five hours is a long time. So, if you are in your fine dress or expensive outfit. You are going to be on the grass or concrete steps if you want to sit down.
Unless you have sharp elbows to claim a seat.
So bring a blanket or a fold up stool. Don't want grass stained on your finery.
They have a small grandstand with limited views. Due to keep us separate from the premier enclosure.
Even so, the premier side had to all stand. Great if you hook up a rich man. Can't escape.
Staff just about cope under difficult situations.
Tickets for Tom Jones and the horseracing event was £49 for one person. Good price for whole evening entertainment that started at five.
Long queue for toilets. Make sure you go in the middle of the race."

For Different Travelers
Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
When planning a family visit, consider bringing a picnic to save on costs and ensure picky eaters have something they'll enjoy. Comfortable seating, like a picnic blanket or fold-up stools, is also a good idea, as dedicated seating can be limited. Checking the racecourse's schedule for specific family days will help you find the best events tailored for younger attendees.
💰 Budget Travelers
Bringing your own picnic and drinks is a significant money-saver, as food and beverages purchased on-site can add up. Many visitors also find that the atmosphere and excitement of the racing itself are the main draw, so focusing on the core experience rather than premium amenities can be a smart strategy. Keep an eye out for special offers or package deals that might combine racing with other entertainment at a reduced cost.
🏇 Horse Racing Enthusiasts
Consider purchasing a Tattersalls ticket, which often grants access to the parade and winning enclosures, allowing for a closer look at the equine athletes and their connections. For a deeper dive, some race days might offer behind-the-scenes insights or jockey interviews, though these are less common. Checking the racecard and understanding the form can enhance your appreciation of the sport.

The racecourse's layout is designed to provide excellent viewing points for spectators to follow the action closely.
For those new to the sport, understanding the basics of jump racing can enhance the experience. Key elements include the horse's stamina, the jockey's skill in navigating fences, and the strategic pacing of the race. The racecourse itself often hosts style awards, encouraging attendees to put their best foot forward. Even if you're not competing, appreciating the creativity and effort put into the outfits adds to the overall ambiance.
While dressing up is encouraged, it's also important to be practical.
