What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Travelers rave about the Mevagissey to Fowey ferry, calling it a 'lovely way to travel' and a 'lifetime experience'. The friendly crew, scenic coastal views, and the thrilling possibility of spotting dolphins and seals are consistently highlighted as major positives. While the steps for boarding can vary with the tide, the overall journey is highly recommended for its beauty and the chance for unforgettable wildlife encounters.
"It’s doesn’t get much better than this! A clean smart boat with a polite approachable crew with cash or electronic payment onboard & return assured. Number of steps dependent on tides but a rail & helping hands. Check website updates for sailings. Ppl form a queue.
However this lovely reasonably priced 40 min trip, turned into a lifetime experience as the Skipper notice activity in the horizon. Helming towards - soon we were to see a large number of dolphins working together to corral a bait ball of Pilchards (perhaps Sardines) which were now visible on the foaming surface as the dolphins attacked together. In amongst this feeding frenzy powerful Tuna with lightening speed cashed in on the feast.
Other than David Attenborough’s programs this was a unique moment in anyones life. The crew ensured the passengers could see this spectacle & further explained the sight. It is a credit that their enthusiasm (on a working day for them) was spilt over to us passengers. Thank you.
Now that won’t happen every trip, but if you don’t take the ferry you’ll never know."

"We love the Mevagissey to Fowey ferry, such a lovely way to travel to Fowey, we live locally and it beats the drive around the bay, we managed to have a day off work to enjoy the last Sunday crossing of the season, we left on the 10am ferry weather was beautiful for the end of September, we spent the day in Fowey wandering around and took the small ferry over to polruan for some lunch, before heading back to the ferry for the last sailing of the day, for home, the sun was still shining and half way back across the bay the guys slowed down so we could watch the dolphins play, what a end to a beautiful day, highly recommend this trip to everyone who is staying locally or visiting Mevagissey it’s such a lovely boat ride, thanks guys will see you next season 🐬🐬☀️☀️🛳️🛳️"
