Where to walk dog off-leash in Godalming?

I'm staying in Godalming for the next couple of weeks with my dog, but aren't sure where I can walk her safely off leash where there won't be many people around. Are there any places within walking distance of Godalming College? Or 5-10 min drive with decent parking?

Reviews Summary

Milford Common is praised for its well-maintained heathland and woodland trails, offering a pleasant country walk and a habitat for local wildlife. Families enjoy the natural play areas, and dog owners find it a great spot, though seasonal leash rules and occasional issues with dog waste are noted. The lack of facilities like restrooms and refreshments is a common drawback.

"Well maintained area of open heath and woodland, crossed by a network of clearly signposted footpaths and bridleways.
The heathland environment provides a habitat for birds and reptiles, with information boards outlining the species that can be seen here.
There's a reasonable size parking area (free for National Trust members) and a play area onsite, but no other facilities. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on leads from the beginning of March to the end of July, to protect ground nesting birds. These commons lack the dramatic scenery of some of the other National Trust sites nearby, and there's a bit of noise intrusion from the A3 which runs nearby, but the area still offers a pleasant country walk."

Andrew Thomas

"Witley common is a beautiful area to take the children or just enjoy the peace and quiet. Great adventure area with benches to keep the kids active while you enjoy a picnic cuppa. Unfortunately the tracks and pathways are covered in dog poo. It would be so beautiful with out the selfish behaviour of so called dog lovers."

Ron Bailey

"The kids absolutely love it here- there are three areas of play and lots of paths. No loos. No refreshments."
