"So beautiful I visited two days in a row! Stunning gardens and wonderful house with staff to explain its history if you are interested. Well stocked garden nursery which was like a garden in itself. Helpful staff to give advice before a purchase. The cafe food was the best I have experienced while out and about this summer. Easy to park. Clean toilets. What more do you need ?!"

"Great Dixter is a complete overdose of colour, texture, and shape – and I absolutely loved it! At the end of August it feels like a glorious, overgrown jungle, with plants spilling into the pathways so you have to weave your way through. The contrast between the quiet orchard and the dry, almost bland meadow next to the full, rich borders is just amazing. The topiary is out of this world, and although the garden isn’t huge, it’s full of different “rooms,” each with its own planting style and atmosphere. A truly unforgettable experience."

"I'm not a gardener by any stretch of imagination but I love coming to Great Dixter. I've been in the house too but for me it's the garden that is magical. I wouldn't call it a wild garden but it's not manicured & it feels like it's been allowed to let loose. There's a huge amount of insect life & it's great to see bees busy doing there work.
There is a cafe, which although basic in terms of what it offers, does really delicious food. I wonder if they use a lot of ingredients grown on site.
Come for the day & spend some time reconnecting with nature!"
