Visitors consistently praise Oakworth Station and the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway for their authentic charm, friendly staff, and stunning Yorkshire scenery. The station's preservation, especially its connection to 'The Railway Children,' is a major highlight, offering a delightful step back in time. While most experiences are overwhelmingly positive, some visitors have noted that not all trains are steam-powered, and tea room opening hours can be inconsistent.
"The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway offers a truly delightful step back in time! From the moment you arrive at the beautifully maintained stations, you're struck by the care and attention given to preserving this piece of railway history. The staff throughout the line are incredibly friendly and helpful, always ready with a smile and a bit of information to enhance your journey.
But the real magic happens once the train sets off. The views along the Worth Valley are simply fantastic – rolling hills, charming villages, and picturesque countryside unfold outside your window. It's a wonderfully relaxing way to soak in the scenery of Yorkshire.
Our visit was made even better by a stop for lunch at The Old Parcels Office Cafe & Bar at Keighley. The food was great, arriving quickly and served with the same warm and welcoming attitude we experienced across the railway. It's definitely a spot I'd recommend for a bite to eat before or after your train ride.
Overall, the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway is a gem. It's a well-run heritage railway that offers a memorable experience thanks to its beautiful stations, friendly staff, and stunning views. Don't miss the chance to enjoy a journey and a delicious meal at The Old Parcels Office!"

"Went to see Railway Children and the following day had a day rover ticket. Very friendly staff who will help you out if you are less mobile. Great way to spend a day riding up and down on the train. Lovely scenery."

"Called here this morning to see Oakworth station and in the hope that the 10.08 (30.4) was to be a steam train. Not so lol, we were told by the station keeper that they run weekends and everyday in the 6 weeks holiday. We had a lovely chat with this very nice man who has volunteered at the station for some 30+ years. The train we saw was an old diesel. The station rooms and platform are beautiful, when you play a clip of the Railway children at the station (1970 film), it looks quite the same as it is today and we were told pretty much untouched since the war. We will definitely have to return and go on a steam train ride. There is a tea room here just off the platform but it didn’t seem to be open when we visited. So glad we called by. Free easy parking when we visited but there’s also easy on street parking outside the nearby terraced house."
